REMOTE ACCESSIBLE VOTE BY MAIL

Stanislaus County offers a Remote Accessible Vote by Mail (RAVBM) system to deliver voter guides and ballots electronically to voters. These ballots can be marked, printed and returned to the elections office.

By law, all registered voters are eligible to use RAVBM. RAVBM allows individuals with disabilities to use their own assistive technology to vote independently and privately. RAVBM also provides a voting option for any voter who is traveling, lost or damaged a ballot, or didn’t receive a ballot.

You must be a registered voter and have access to the Internet and a printer to use RAVBM. You must print your RAVBM ballot and return it to the elections office. You can return it in person, by mail or in a ballot drop box. Elections staff must verify the signature on the envelope and duplicate RAVBM ballots on official ballot cards. Because voter prints RAVBM ballots on regular paper, the ballot must be duplicated on official ballot paper so that it can be scanned through tabulators as all other vote by mail ballots. Ballot duplication is performed by a team of election employees who swear an oath before each election.

RAVBM has many safeguards, including:

• Only registered voters can access RAVBM.
• Once a ballot envelope is returned, each voter signature is verified.
• If a voter returns multiple ballots, the computer system will accept only the first one. Any additional ballots will be rejected.
• To ensure your privacy, RAVBM doesn’t store how you voted.
• The state tests and certifies all RAVBM systems.

Search Tips:

• If the system says your information wasn’t found in the database, please double-check the name and date.
• If your name is Chris, you may have registered with your full name of Christine or Christopher. The opposite maybe true. You may go by Christopher or Christine but you registered as Chris.
• If your name is something like McDonald or O’Hare, try entering Mc Donald or O Hare.
• If you have more than one last name, such as Diaz Garza, try it that way first. If it doesn’t work, try Garza as your last name. If you hyphenate your name, leave a space. John Silver-Smith should be entered as John and Silver Smith. If that doesn’t work, try John and Smith.
